Principal’s Welcome

Kindness. Respect. Ambition.

Welcome to East Glendalough School.

At East Glendalough School, we believe that every young person should feel known, valued and encouraged to flourish. Ours is a school where kindness is evident, respect is lived daily and ambition is nurtured in every student.

As a co-educational comprehensive day school under the patronage of the Church of Ireland Archbishop of Dublin and Bishop of Glendalough, our Christian foundation is central to who we are. The teachings and values of the Christian faith are woven throughout school life and are reflected in the relationships we build, the care we show for one another and the opportunities we provide for students to grow spiritually, morally and socially.

Our school is a place where resilience is developed alongside an understanding that challenge and adversity are characteristic of the imperfect nature of life. It is a place where preparation for adulthood in the 21st century is underpinned by a lived ethos of justice, fairness and forgiveness. Through our weekly junior, senior and whole-school assemblies, the Christian message remains a living and tangible feature of our community, shaping the character and ethos of our school.

The three values that define our community are Kindness, Respect and Ambition.

Kindness calls us to care for and support one another in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Respect encourages courtesy, co-operation, responsibility and appreciation for the dignity of every person.

Ambition inspires our students to embrace challenge, pursue excellence and realise their full potential.

East Glendalough School seeks to provide a broad Christian education while developing spiritual and moral values, personal and social skills, and the highest standards of excellence in all areas of school activity. We are proud of our broad and balanced curriculum, which enables students to achieve success across a wide range of academic disciplines while developing creativity, curiosity and a love of learning.

Equally important is the vibrant life beyond the classroom. Through stewardship, sport, music, drama, outdoor education, clubs, societies and community service, students are encouraged to discover their talents, broaden their horizons and contribute positively to school life. The array of lunchtime societies ensures that every student can find opportunities for connection, participation and belonging.

Our staff are deeply committed to the holistic development of every student. Together, we strive to create an environment where young people are challenged academically, supported pastorally and inspired spiritually.

Our Mission Statement reflects our commitment to helping every student realise their full potential through a broad Christian education, while developing the skills, values and character needed to become caring and constructive members of society. It challenges us to pursue excellence, foster a co-operative spirit and uphold high standards of work, behaviour and respect for others.

I hope our website offers a glimpse into life at East Glendalough School. More importantly, I hope it conveys the warmth, faith and sense of purpose that make our school unique. We look forward to welcoming you and showing you firsthand a school where kindness, respect and ambition are lived every day.
