U16 Girls’ Basketball
This was a good year for our team, Iwas luckily selected captain. Our first match was against St.Marys which was a very close game up until the last quarter when we were successful and won 25-16. Then we played against the Abbey CC, our old rivals, and we beat them 57-28. The next game we played was against Gorey CC, which was a brilliant match as we managed to score over 100 points with the final score being 103-4. Our final match of the season was against Avondale CC, which was an upsetting match as it was our 1st match lost in 3 years, but we all enjoyed the match and played as best as we could - the final score was 38-26. All these matches left us 2nd in the league which we were all very happy with. On behalf of the team Iwould like to thank Ms. Minogue and Ms. Minogue-Jones for all their hard work throughout the year.

2nd Year Girls’ Basketball
The 2nd Year Girls have had a great basketball season this year. At first, we expected to play in the Wicklow League as usual, but after a match against St Columba’s it was decided we were too strong for this league and were entered in the South Dublin League instead. We didn’t know what to expect from this league, but ended up by winning all our league matches. In doing so, we should have qualified for the semi-finals of the league, but unfortunately, due to a paperwork mix-up which had nothing to do with us, Loreto Beaufort, a team we beat by more than twenty points, qualified ahead of us. Naturally, this was pretty disappointing and an appeal has been lodged. We also played a friendly against St Joseph of Cluny, All-Ireland Section A finalists. We got beaten, but not by that much, and the challenge was great! On behalf of all the girls we would like to say thanks to Ms Minogue, Ms Minogue-Jones and also to Julie Reid who trained us during the year as part of her Transition Year Thesis.
