EGS Association

Past Pupils

In 2006 we launched the East Glendalough School Association. The school has now reached an age where it can support a vibrant past pupils association and many former students have been asking about, and arranging, reunions and other social occasions. Membership is open to all past pupils, and some long-standing staff are from time to time granted honorary membership (as in some other schools).

The main activities of the East Glendalough School Association (EGSA) are an annual bulletin so past pupils can keep in touch and learn what their former classmates are getting up to, a ten year reunion for the appropriate class group and the occasional sports event or barbecue.

We are delighted that Mr Nigel Murtagh has agreed to help co-ordinate the establishment of the association. He hopes to help establish EGSA, get it going, then leave it to you to organise and maintain. The school can help with distributing information and receiving post, but it really is up to the past pupils themselves to make a go of the association (sorry for sounding like a teacher here…).

Membership Fees
The membership fee will be €50 - for life membership
However, as an extra incentive (and to help us get EGSA up and running quickly), anyone who joins this year can avail of a generous discount – it’ll only cost €25.
We don’t want the fee to put anyone off. The purpose of the association is purely social, and it has not been conceived as some sort of fund-raiser for the school. However, you will appreciate that there will be running costs involved which we have to cover. Membership fees received will be put in a separate bank account, and reserved entirely for the EGSA. (In case anyone has a conspiracy theory that the funds will be siphoned off to pay for some 1st Year Geography trip or something!)

How you can help…
• Join now, and help us get a membership base up and running.

• Tell other past pupils about EGSA.
We are writing out to all former pupils – to the best of our ability. But addresses change, post gets lost and there will be some people who miss out on the information.
Tell them not to be offended but to please contact the school and we can easily send them out the details.

• Support the events, go on the Committee, or let the Committee know what you’d like to see organised.

We sincerely hope that the East Glendalough School Association is going to be a great addition to our school and its community. We hope too that you agree with the idea, and will participate in getting it established and making it successful.

Help us keep in touch!
The annual Bulletin is produced every autumn and we're always very grateful for snippets of news about what our former pupils are up to. So please contact the school and let us know what you or any of your classmates are currently doing.
